About · Kayla Robyn

Hi, I’m Kayla.
I build brands
worth believing in.

Louisville-born, strategy-obsessed, and a sucker for a brand that actually knows who it is. I started Kayla Robyn Creative because some of the best brands in the country are being built in small markets like ours — and the owners building them deserve a strategic partner who’s actually built for them, not a scaled-down agency pitch.

— so glad you’re here.

The Story

How this whole thing started.

Kayla Robyn Creative started the way most good things do — out of a problem that nobody else was solving.

For years, I watched small business owners I love — friends, neighbors, family — spend money on cheap logos, templated websites, and marketing advice that didn’t fit them. They’d end up with a brand that looked like everyone else’s, a site that didn’t bring in leads, and a nagging sense that they were “almost there” but never quite there.

Honestly? I was the client. My background isn’t a straight line — and that’s the point. I spent 10+ years across SaaS, market research, enterprise sales, and operations, running customer insights work for brands like Microsoft, Clorox, and Verizon. Across every role, one thing stayed constant: I was the person people brought their goals to when they had no clear path forward. I kept seeing the same gap — the disconnect between what companies were saying and what their customers actually needed to hear. Eventually I realized small-business owners needed that same translation work, without an agency layer. So I built it.

So I built Kayla Robyn Creative to be the thing I wished existed: one trusted partner who can handle the brand, the messaging, and the website — strategically, beautifully, without the agency theatrics.

Today, I work with small-business owners who are past DIY, tired of agency theatrics, and ready to stop guessing. The goal isn’t a prettier logo — it’s a brand foundation that tells people who they are, what they do, and why it matters, so they can focus on running the business, not explaining it.

It’s not about being the biggest studio. It’s about being the one that actually knows your name, gets your business, and builds you something you’re proud to send people to.

What I Believe

Five things I won’t compromise on.

Every client project gets filtered through these. They’re why my work looks, feels, and performs the way it does.

01

Strategy first, always.

Pretty without positioning is just decoration. Before a single color or headline gets chosen, we know who you are, who you’re for, and what only you can say.

02

Clarity beats clever.

If your message takes a second read, it’s already lost. I’d rather say something plainly and true than something cute. Clients thank me for this one the most.

03

Finish what you start.

Nothing kills momentum like a project that drags. Every package has a clear scope and a real finish line. We ship. Then you run it.

04

Small business ≠ small thinking.

You deserve the same strategy, craft, and care a national brand gets. Just scaled to fit your budget and moving at the speed of one decisive person, not a committee.

05

No bullshit. Including my own.

I’ve made the mistakes I now help clients avoid. That’s not a liability — it’s how I know what actually works. You’ll get honest answers, even when they’re not the ones you hoped for.

Louisville Roots

Built here. For here.

Louisville is home. UK basketball and football season tickets growing up, Lou City with my own family now. I believe small-market cities like ours are where some of the best brands in the country are being built right now. They just need someone who can help them show it.

Most clients are local. The rest are in small markets anywhere — and I love that mix. But my heart project is always helping a Louisville owner look as good as the work they’re doing.

Off the Clock

When I’m not at the desk.

Because it matters who you’re hiring, not just what they deliver. Here’s the rest of the picture.

01 · Always
Being a mom (plus one dog).

Beck just turned 3 months. Ellis, my bonus son, is 5 and full of opinions. Bear, our 2-year-old golden retriever, believes he outranks both of them. They’re the reason Tiny Narrator exists — and why Cory and I are permanently outnumbered.

02 · Grounds me
Time outside.

Hiking, camping, backpacking, mountain biking, horseback riding. Skiing anywhere there’s real snow — Utah, Colorado, Whistler when we can swing it. Most of my best thinking happens when I’m too tired to be clever.

03 · Keeps me sharp
Writing tiny books.

I run Tiny Narrator, a small Etsy shop where I write custom hardcover story books for new big brothers and big sisters — one-off, from scratch, written around the specific kid. It keeps me practicing the same thing I do for KRC clients at a smaller scale: listen closely, write carefully, make it feel like theirs.

04 · Family tradition
Front row at Lou City.

I grew up with UK basketball and football season tickets, and wanted that kind of family tradition for my own kids. Lou City became it. Front-row seats — Cory’s solution to the fact that I yell at the refs anyway.

The Fit

Who I work best with.

Not every project is right for me, and not every client is right for this studio. Here’s the honest cut.

You’re a fit if…

  • You’re a founder or small team — one decision-maker, not a committee.
  • You care about doing things right the first time.
  • You want a partner, not a vendor — someone to push back when needed.
  • You’re ready to invest in the brand as a real asset, not a line item.
  • You have a business people already like — we’re amplifying, not inventing.

Probably not, if…

  • You need it done by Friday for under $500.
  • You want someone to just “make it look cool” without strategy.
  • You’re looking for a retainer with no defined outcomes.
  • There are five stakeholders who all need to approve every color.
  • You believe good branding happens in one 30-minute call.
